Kristin’s voice and speech clients include many actors, singers and career professionals who use their voices extensively as part of their jobs. Lawyers, doctors, Wall Street traders, sports coaches and teachers are some of her main clients that come to her for “vocal repair” work due to overuse or abuse.
“Working with Kristin has absolutely transformed my voice. A few years ago, I had some slight vocal damage from improper singing and speaking techniques. After several months of voice therapy work, things were starting to improve but when I came to Kristin as a student, I was still hesitant and scared to sing without proper technique, and I was afraid singing would hurt me again. Over the course of my time working with her, I gained so much confidence and skill that I never thought possible! Kristin teaches in such an individual way, with methods that work for each student. When something didn’t work for me, she never hesitated to try a new way or to stop and break it down for me in a way I understood. With Kristin, I was able to develop a strong mixed sound that is healthy and sustainable, and I never have to worry about my technique failing me!
I’m so happy I had Kristin as a voice teacher and I would very highly recommend to her anyone, especially those struggling with their vocal health.”
"After five years of speech pathology, vocal therapy, and no long-term solutions for my vocal damage, Kristin Huffman saved my voice. The summer going into my sophomore year of college, I lost my voice during my summer job as a sailing instructor and never got it back. I was soon diagnosed with pre-nodules, which has since developed into chronic laryngitis. As a singer/songwriter, coach, and student athlete this was debilitating and devastating. While doctors appointments and medication helped at times, no one had any long term solutions. My coaching career ended, and moreover, I was afraid to sing in the car or even call on the field to my teammates. I met Kristin 5 years later, and in two minutes she picked out flaws in my speaking habits that contributed to my vocal damage, and we began working to unravel years of improper vocal form. After 5 years of timidness, I am back on the field coaching, singing, and shouting unafraid and pain-free.
I am forever grateful to Kristin."
"For many years I received comments from directors and vocal teachers saying that they heard strain, pushing, tension, swelling, etc. when I sang. When I started working with Kristin this year, she heard a similar issue, and encouraged me to go get my throat scoped to see if there was any damage. After going to a a voice specialist at Mass General Hospital I found out that I’ve had a cyst on one of my vocal chords since I was a kid. The cyst is benign and will be getting removed his summer. As the doctors told me I could still sing on it but to take it easy, Kristin worked with me over this spring on Zoom to figure out ways to sing that were healthy and productive. Without pushing me, we worked a lot on building technique, warm ups to use for many years, unlearning bad technique, and habits for general vocal health. Though we had to go easy on my actual singing voice, I still learned an incredible amount about technique and vocal health that will translate over once I have had my surgery.
Kristin really understands how to work with voices that need that extra care."
