My methodology for teaching vocal technique is a combination of "Mix" and "Bel Canto." It's the most beautiful and the safest way to sing. We also focus on sight-reading, playing piano as appropriate to a vocalist, and audition skills that are so crucial. This is my speciality. My older students and very advanced younger students seeking a professional career in music and theatre, also get heavy dose of "The business of theatre." I am always happy to connect my students to my roster of professionals including agents, casting directors, classes with directors, and a variety of other networking opportunities that are crucial to a career in this business.
"I am so glad I had Kristin Huffman come teach her Master Class on MusicalTheater Auditions. It was by far one of the most comprehensive classes we've ever had at the Bushnell. Kristin covered everything from presentation techniques to headshots. She was realistic and honest and entertaining. The students loved Kristin's class and I will definitely be asking her to come back."

“Over the past year, Kristin has taken the time to get to know my son, including learning about his goals and interests as well as helping him through vocal challenges as they arise...Her passion for sharing her love for singing is contagious, and there is nothing more gratifying as a parent to hear your child say, “Mom, Kristin is a miracle worker!” She is professional, patient, attentive and most of all, cares about you and your child as if you are family. Whether your child is looking to get into singing or you are an adult trying to hone your craft, Kristin is simply the best!”

"I wanted to thank you for the wonderful helpful comments we received on our chorus pieces at Six Flags New England's Music in the Parks. I did a bit of research on you and presented it in class which thrilled my students. Your experience and expertise made it "click" with my chorus. I am a clarinetist and not a trained vocalist or vocal teacher, so I was thrilled to see the things I am doing well and the things I need to improve.Your comments were extremely helpful and encouraging for all of us!"

"As a vocal student of Professor Huffman, I have learned so many valuable things that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. Professor Huffman is an expert at vocal technique and vocal sustainability. Throughout my time as her student at the Hartt School (Univ of Hartford) my voice has completely grown and transformed from the high school level to a professional one. Through her teaching I have developed a legit sound and a mix belt that is healthy and competitive in the modern-day musical theatre world. She is also excellent at adapting to each student’s needs. She takes the time to really get to know her student’s voices, so she knows how to uniquely help improve each student.
Professor Huffman also can easily change her teaching tactics to help students achieve their goals whether they are a visual or auditory learner. Not only does she provide her students with the vocal technique they need to succeed, but she also provides top notch acting through song work that helps you perform material in a way that is interesting and stands out at auditions. One thing I especially love about having Professor Huffman as my teacher is her insight on the business side of a career in musical theatre. I am so lucky to have a Professor like her who provides me with “behind the table” advice on casting and auditioning. Throughout class we often discuss how to create a great self-tape, how to get into casting director’s files, and overall what is means to be a performer in the professional world today.
Professor Huffman is the type of teacher who will support and root for your success, but also level with you and challenge you to work hard to improve yourself. She truly has my highest recommendation!"

"One of the most useful tools I gained at school was Kristin's stellar insight into comedy. Her comedic skills are top notch and she was able to teach them in a way that transformed me as a performer. As I was prepping my audition for an Off-Broadway musical parody/comedy, I thought about everything I learned from her, and I felt SO much more confident because of it!"
