I founded New Paradigm Theatre (NPT) in 2012 with a great group of like-minded and visionary people who believe in a couple things:
1. Theatre companies should not only "put on a show" but in a very real way, they should connect to their communities and the social justice issues and nonprofits.
2. As an educator for 35 years I have seen the benefits that young people get from involvement in the arts. The life skills they can learn far outweigh just teaching them to just be "little Broadway babies".
We named it "The New Paradigm Theatre" and we are now a company well-known for inventive productions that are presented with multi-cultural, multi-generational and multi-gendered casting. We have even won a few state grants!
We are virtually-based like many NY theatres and when we didn't have a mortgage to pay during the pandemic, folks stopped wondering why we founded our company that way.
We work with in-need, special needs and typical students who get to be onstage side by side with my Broadway and Film friends and colleagues, learning and growing.
“NPT is absolutely amazing! I can’t begin to explain how much my daughter has grown socially, vocally, & instrumentally over the past 3 years working with NPT. Her tremendous stage fright and social anxiety has gotten under control thanks to NPT. She is a new person.”
We perform and rehearse in beautiful and professional spaces. Rehearsals take place at the Emmanuel Church, and pictured here is the newly renovated Stratford High School Theatre, where we perform our summer shows.
